Hadronyche Nimoola Australian Funnel Web Spider

Hadronyche nimoola, also known as the northern tree funnel-web spider, is a species of funnel-web spider found in northern Australia, including parts of Queensland and the Northern Territory. This spider is one of the largest in the genus Hadronyche, with females reaching up to 6 cm in length and males up to 5 cm.

The Hadronyche nimoola spider is dark brown or black in color, with a glossy appearance. Its legs are long and robust, and it has eight eyes arranged in two rows, with the front two eyes being larger than the others. This species is primarily arboreal, and its funnel-shaped web can be found in trees, under bark, or in leaf litter on the forest floor.

Like other funnel-web spiders, it is highly venomous, with its venom capable of causing serious symptoms in humans if bitten. However, there have been no recorded human fatalities from this species. The antivenom for Hadronyche nimoola is the same as that used for the Sydney funnel-web spider (Atrax robustus), which is also found in Australia.

Despite its potential danger, it is an important part of the ecosystem in northern Australia, and it plays a role in controlling insect populations. It is also a fascinating and important species for scientific study, particularly in understanding the evolution and ecology of funnel-web spiders.
